Privacy Policy

Marquee ("Marquee", "we", "us") is a mobile trivia game developed by an
independent team. This Privacy Policy explains what information we
collect when you use the Marquee app and website, how we use it, and the
choices you have. If you don't agree with this policy, please don't use
Marquee.

Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details — your email address and a password (stored only as a secure hash), or, if you sign in with Google, your name, email address and Google profile picture.
- Profile — a nickname/handle, an optional profile photo (avatar) you upload, and your chosen country and language.
- Content you create — group names, friends/follows, and your gameplay (scores, answers, game history).
- Support messages — anything you send us through the in-app feedback form or by email.
Information collected automatically
- Diagnostics & usage — crash reports, errors, performance and basic usage data, collected to keep the app working (see "Service providers" below).
- Approximate location — a coarse country/region (e.g. for country leaderboards), derived from your settings or network. We do not collect precise GPS location.
- Advertising identifier — if you use the free, ad-supported version, your device's advertising ID may be processed by our ads provider (see "Advertising").
Purchases
- If you subscribe to Marquee Premium, your purchase is handled by Google Play and our subscription provider RevenueCat. We receive your subscription status (active, plan, expiry) — we never receive or store your card or payment details.
How we use your information
- To create and run your account, profile and sign-in.
- To provide the game: daily puzzles, multiplayer party rooms, leaderboards, friends and groups.
- To manage subscriptions and remove ads for Premium users.
- To show ads to users on the free tier.
- To send essential account emails (verification and password reset).
- To diagnose crashes, fix bugs, prevent abuse and improve the app.
- To respond to your support requests.
Advertising
The free version of Marquee shows ads through Google AdMob.
For users in the EEA, UK and Switzerland we show a consent form, and ads
personalization depends on your choice. Subscribing to Marquee Premium
removes ads. You can also reset your advertising ID in your device
settings.
Service providers we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share the minimum needed with providers that help us run Marquee:
- Google — Sign-In, Google Play (billing) and AdMob (ads).
- RevenueCat — subscription management.
- New Relic — app and server diagnostics, error and performance monitoring.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — hosting, image (avatar) storage, and sending account emails.
- Cloudflare — website hosting and content delivery.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users and the service.
Data retention
We keep your account information for as long as your account exists.
Diagnostic and ad data is retained for a limited period by the relevant
provider. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your
personal data, except where we must keep it to comply with the law.
Your rights and choices
- You can view and update your profile (handle, avatar, country, language) in the app.
- You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and account deletion, by emailing marqueegame@gmail.com.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in Google Play, and ad consent (where shown) through the in-app prompt.
- Depending on where you live (e.g. the EEA/UK), you may have additional rights under data-protection law, including the right to object or lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Children
Marquee is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age
required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data
from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us
and we will delete it.
International transfers
We and our providers may process your information in countries other than
your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on
appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your
information (for example, passwords are hashed and traffic is encrypted in
transit). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, however,
and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll post the new
version here and update the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes
may be announced in the app.
